Jo and Johan’s Wedding

Our first wedding at Lightspace went off without a hitch (except for the hitching of the bride and groom of course) with a lovely couple and their guests.  The room looked beautiful with hundreds of origami cranes hung from the rafters by the dutiful bridesmaids, only outshone by the bride herself.  Many happy returns to Jo and Johan!  These images courtesy of Rachel Marsden… http://rachelmarsden.com.au

Apple Ipad Demo

The innovative folk at Apple held an Ipad demo evening for teachers at Lightspace.  Aimed at getting students to interact better with technology, the evening included an ipad art installation and an education ‘speed date’ session . Nothing could stop the learning, not even a power blackout half-way through the presentation.  Lucky those funky little gadgets have a long battery life, and candles can create a nice ambience.

QUT Interior Design Fresh Meet Exhibition

Some very cool furniture pieces and portfolios were on display at the Fresh Meet Exhibition.  Showcasing the hardwork of graduate students it featured unique solutions to design problems and some interesting use of recycled materials.  A big thanks to the install team who worked like Trojans making everything look beautiful, and an even bigger thanks for leaving us all those cupcakes!

Frock It

Some very good looking people popped into the venue for a fashion parade showcasing QUT design talent + many others. A big thanks to the Fleet Store, Josh (who took these pretty pics), Edda (Aka organiser extraordinaire) and the cure little garden gnomes that stood guard by the front of the catwalk. It was a tough job but someone had to do it.[slideshow]

Griffith University QCA Design Exhibition

Griffith University’s Queensland College of Art hosted their two day graduate exhibition at Lightspace.  The next wave of Brisbane’s design talent was on show with hundreds of student portfolios to flick through.  With some Brisbane design heavyweights in the room it was a fantastic chance to view some innovative new ideas with a chilled glass of vino in hand.

Best of Brisbane Festival

With generous support from Motorline BMW, the Best of Brisbane festival raised over $100000 for the Helen Hackett Foundation.  This money will go a long way towards buying a new breast screening device for the Wesley Hospital.  A big thanks to Amaia Brookman and Alesia de Luca for organising such a fabulous event!
